Accounting Assistant

Pertinent Information: Contract position lasting approximately six (6) months +/-. Great opportunity for someone looking to gain further experience with a larger company. Non-automotive, non manufacturing facility. Full details to be provided at time of interview.

Wage: $23.00/hr.

Location: Windsor, ON.

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing hands-on expertise to the daily management of accounting and payroll functions.

  • Accurately prepare and maintain records of all transactions and create financial statements of accounts for defined fiscal periods to support the companys’ allocation of resources, budget and profitability goals,
  • Prepare precise bank deposits, general ledger postings and financial statements,
  • Sort and enter invoices, verify data and prepare cheques for payment while maintaining vendor files,
  • Assist external accounting firm in the reconciliation of accounts for year-end accounting processes,
  • Accurately coordinate and process payroll for hourly and salaried employees on a biweekly basis, solving payroll discrepancies quickly and efficiently,
  • Remittances and reporting to government and other agencies are done accurately as scheduled


  • Degree and/or Diploma in Accounting
  • Must have at least two (2) years proven professional experience in an accounting/bookkeeping role require
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Working experience with Sage 50 and other accounting/bookkeeping software
