Assembly Supervisor

Pertinent Details:  Direct Hire career opportunity, with a growing company specializing in the refurbishing and manufacturing of metal racking (ie. paint, welding and assembly).  Steady days opportunity (6:00 a.m – 3:30 p.m) with very low requirement for overtime.  Position is vacant due to a recent retirement announcement, so training will be provided.

Job Description:

This role requires the Assembly Supervisor to manage and coordinate the assembly team, which includes setting goals and monitoring performance. The Assembly Supervisor must also ensure that quality control standards are met, that safety regulations are followed, and that any mechanical or technical problems are addressed. Duties to include, but not limited to the following:

• Ability to change on the fly program builds

• Asses runs near completion & acquire missing components

• Work closely with Engineering team on incorrect drawings and build components

• Work with the other departments toward common build goals

• Deal with Sales team to ensure supplied parts / hardware for racking arrive in a timely fashion

• Ensure all samples for racking arrive when needed

• Work closely with Sales team on build priorities

• Ensure all shipping documents are prepared for shipper from logistics

• Schedule pick up of completed loads

• Review new builds & FA’s to match paint and components

• Build FA’s to understand requirements of staff to work on new work orders

• Schedule paint teams shift work schedule

• Communication with Operation Manager on build issues & Quality

• Work closely with rack supply team on deliveries on raw builds and when they will arrive

• Creates daily work schedules for both shifts to follow to meet shipping deadlines

  • Follow standard manufacturing procedures, and monitors work meet product specifications  and production targets

• Resolves production problems, methods, or equipment

  • Work closely with QA to conducts quality testing on completed assemblies to validate tolerances and product specifications
  • Oversee the training of new assembly personnel and assist with troubleshooting of assembly processes
  • Reviews daily assembly production records to identify trends or potential performance issues – KPI’s, weekly total builds and shipping
  • Ensures all customer product and tooling is handled properly to avoid damage
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of assembly workers

• Train new staff in assembly operations and processes

• Schedule production operations and assign workers to specific tasks

• Ensure second shift follows build plans accurately

• Ensure workers use appropriate tools and follow safety regulations

• Monitor production output and quality

• Review data analysis and performance metrics to identify areas of improvement

• Maintain accurate records and document assembly operations

• Address any issues that arise in the assembly process

• Hands on small repairs & welding to keep production flowing

• Work with staff to simplify and/or approve current work techniques

• Ensure the accurate tracking of all production data

• Visually inspects product prior to racking while notifying the Team Leader of

• any non-conformances

• Records necessary racking and un-racking information on work order

  • Works safely and complies with all safety regulations while working with hazardous materials and chemicals.

• Maintains equipment, and work area in a clean and organized manner

• Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed

Qualifications:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent
  • College diploma in Machining or Welding a definitive asset
  • Knowledge of the Metal Racking industry is a major asset
  • Strong supervisory, people management, motivational and training skills

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures

• Ability to work in a team environment

• Ability to resolve technical issues

• Flexibility and ability to adapt to change

• Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes

• Able to use a wide variety of measuring equipment

• Maintain a safe working environment ensuring all company procedures are followed
