Construction Site Superintendent

Pertinent Information: Direct hire position. Daily travel to work sites required (sites are located within 15-20 minutes from the main office). Agriculture / Greenhouse experience is a definite asset. Full details to be provided at time of interview.

Wage: $85,000 – $90,000/year. Comprehensive benefits package included.

Location: Kingsville, ON.

Job Description

The Construction Site Superintendent is responsible for providing on-site coordination of all phases and general construction trades for Greenhouse construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The site Superintendent is responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control and job site safety.

Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to:

  • Monitoring project schedules to ensure they are on track, within budget and allocated the necessary resources required to meet deadlines
  • Determining labour requirements and dispatching workers to construction sites
  • Inspecting and reviewing projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers and clients, representing the owner or developer
  • Scheduling subcontractors, consultants and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion
  • Performing quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed
  • Communicating with project team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s and material submittals
  • Ensuring that subcontractor(s) is fully executing and complying with contracted scope of work
  • Coordinating required inspections with local jurisdictions
  • Identifying subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health and environmental quality standards
  • Identifying conflicts in construction progress and communicating them to project team for resolution
  • Maintaining daily log of activities on the job site
  • Performing Superintendent duties at multiple areas of the job site
  • Ensuring subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team
  • Overseeing weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work
  • Issuing notices of non-compliance to subcontractors in regards to quality of work or scheduling
  • Ensuring that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner
  • Performing job progress and completing punch list identification and completion
  • Ensuring G&Ps policy for onsite PPE & Toolbox talk EHS program across all construction sites
  • Preparing and scheduling training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety and other relevant topics
  • Assisting in budgeting, bidding and aware of subcontracts
  • Assisting in obtaining permits or approval of revisions
  • Gathering project material submittals and maintaining records of approvals at the job site
  • Identifying area of work that are outside of subcontracting scope
  • Overseeing pre-construction meetings with each subcontractor
  • Opening the job site at beginning of the day and securing the job site at the end of the day
  • Assisting in hiring sub-tier employees
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Construction, Engineering, Trade Certificate(s), or related
  • Minimum five (5) years experience as Site/Project Superintendent
  • Experience with Procore or Microsoft Project
  • Experience with General Construction Trades
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, word, project & Outlook)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Physically lift up to 75 lbs
  • Monitoring job site general health and safety
  • Provide direction to and resolve problems amongst 30+ subcontractors and vendors
