JUNIOR BUYER

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Senior Buyer, the Junior Buyer is responsible for the following, but not limited to:

  • Source, negotiate and obtain price quotations from catalogues and suppliers. Prepare purchase orders and coordinate the timely procurement of these items.
  • Identify vendors of materials, equipment or supplies and invite tenders, consult with suppliers, review quotations and participate in the negotiation of purchase contracts
  • Monitor cost and quality of goods and/or services received and resolve any issues with vendors
  • Monitor inventory levels of critical consumables and ensure they are appropriately maintained.
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing files, reports and price lists.
  • Monitor special project expenditures and ensure payment schedules are met.
  • Review daily production projection and communicate with vendors for releases of required stock supplies
  • Maintenance of the Monthly utilities spreadsheets.
  • Participate in Daily Production and Continuous Improvement meetings.

Qualifications

  • Degree / diploma in a field related to business
  • Minimum one (1) year of Purchasing experience
  • Experience purchasing packaging, planned consumables, maintenance items, etc
  • Must have strong Excel skills
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills
