Job Description
The Quality Assurance Manager oversees all aspects of quality, organization and structure of the department; plans, coordinates, and directs quality assurance programs designed to ensure quality production of products consistent with established CFIA, USDA, HACCP, SQF and SOP standards; is responsible for the direction of a team of quality professionals and technicians.
Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to:
- Manage and oversee the Quality Assurance Dept and Food Safety Management System.
- Develop and train Food Safety Coordinator and Quality Assurance staff
- Preparation of various audits, customers, regulatory and third party
- Primary contact with CFIA, FDA, third party auditors and customers related to quality/food safety.
- Developing SOP’s and documentation related to quality and food safety enhancement
- Ensure that all products meet government regulations and company standards
- Manage and coordinates all quality-related activities including the production process, laboratory work, food safety initiatives and quality testing
- Work closely with production management and monitors environment to ensure compliance to company, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Work with suppliers regarding specifications and quality
- Oversee customer and consumer complaints to ensure proper investigation and corrective actions.
- Monitor and assists in the development of new products
- Assess specification requirements for potential new business, comparing the Company capability with the customer specification, noting shortfalls in Company’s capability, access costs involved for additional analysis and identifying the items & areas requiring support. Identify the gaps and provide a strategy to move project forward.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or other scientific area of study or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in the meat industry in a technical leadership capacity
- Minimum of three (3) years of Mangement experience
- Demonstrated competency in Safe Food for Canadian Regulations (SFCR), Health Canada and FSEP systems
- Experience with internal and external auditing
- Strong organizational skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Strong computer skills in Excel and Word
