Millwright Apprentices – 4th Year

Pertinent Details: 4th Year Millwright Apprentice. Must have over 6000 hours completed towards the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic apprenticeship program. Must write and pass exam within one (1) to two (2) years – no more. Must be able to work continental shift.

Wage: $40-50.00 / hour ($30 hour + $0.55/hour midnight premium + incentive (incentive can range from $15-25/hour +/-) + full benefits, pension, bonuses, tuition reimbursements, tool/boot allowances, etc.  Up to a $1,000 signing bonus!!!

Hourly rate will increase to $40.35.hr + incentive upon successful completion of exam.

Job Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the 4th year Millwright Apprentice is responsible for the following, but not limited to:

  • Work safely following WHMIS & workplace safety practices set forth by Company policy & MOL standards.
  • Lifting and Rigging using safe work practices and load securing strategies.
  • Strong hydraulics background & knowledge of fluid power systems
  • Responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance and modification of all production and/or facilities mechanical equipment: Mills, Slitters, Cranes, Conveyors, Coolant and Lubrication Systems, Exhaust Systems, other as required.
  • Work within a team environment as well as individually and participate in team meetings as requested.
  • Perform emergency maintenance work to maintain a high levels of Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis efforts and continuous improvement toward failure reduction/elimination.
  • Initiate follow up work orders for open concerns or maintenance requests.
  • Specify part requirement details for planned work.
  • Provide continuous improvement suggestions which improve PM activity effectiveness and the reduction of unanticipated failures.
  • Report discrepancies in drawings and BOM for subsequent correction
  • Fabricate, machine (lathe, grinder, mill, etc.), weld, fit/assemble components and assemblies as required in support of planned and unplanned maintenance.
  • Document full details of work activities with respect to symptom/s, root cause, extent of damage, corrective action/s. & use the SAP – Computerized Maintenance Management System to capture daily work activities and locate parts.
  • Maintain high levels of 5S in within defined work and storage area/s.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic course within the Ontario College of Trades Apprenticeship Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Training Standard.
  • Greater than 6000 hours (4th year) completed towards the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic apprenticeship program
  • Mechanical aptitude necessary for fulfillment of job requirements.
  • Proficient comprehension of industrial equipment, repair, and plant operations.
  • Detail orientated, able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Display a positive attitude towards your work and maintain positive working relationship.
  • Ability to interface with computers and efficient at problem solving.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights.
