Wage: $75,000 – $85,000/year, Comprehensive benefits package.
Job Description
Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for the oversight of Quality Assurance functions while ensuring that the company quality system procedures are upheld. Role is focused on internal and external corrective actions:
Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to:
- Coordinating all APQP activities with assistance from existing subject matter specialists including: Build/ Document, Colour, Metrology/ Gauge, Current Production CI
- Maintaining excellent Customer relations at corporate and plant level throughout launch
- Executing Customer driven engineering changes, reworks and root cause investigations
- Managing customer portals (SQE)
- Clearly and consistently communicate customer expectations to the Organization
- Assisting in development of control documents, implementation of lessons learned, SOR compliance, gauge and assembly equipment development and related PPAP deliverables
- Managing suppliers PPAP’s, quality, chargebacks and facilitate supplier development
- Leading/ coordinating cross-functional APQP teams on product launches, applying lessons learned to continuously improve APQP process
- Providing written technical responses to customers on launch quality issues
- Liaison with Customers during visits, builds, run at rates, PPAP activities, process/ system audits, and APQP/ PDT meetings.
- Tracking and resolving open issues pertaining to new product launches, developing control documents and other Customer required quality documentation.
- Performing Quality Engineering activities for internal issues as needed. (Ex. problem solving, process audits, internal auditing, etc.)
- Liaison with Customers on quality issues, travel to customer location to orchestrate sorts, confirm issues and conduct investigation as needed
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree is required
- Five (5) + years experience in a Quality role
- Two (2) + years experience in a Quality Engineer role.
- Experience leading APQP process in an automotive assembly environment
- Proficiency with AIAG standards (APQP, PPAP & PFMEA)
- IATF Lead Auditor accreditation an asset
- Plastic Injection Molding process experience
- Must be able to travel internationally – USA, Mexico
