Job Description:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading all quality assurance, technical, and laboratory functions within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures compliance with the organization’s Quality Management System while driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
Working collaboratively with Quality Assurance Managers across the organization, the successful candidate will help implement and maintain standardized quality systems and best practices across multiple facilities. This position reports directly to the Director of Quality. Job duties to include, but not limited to:
- Lead all quality assurance, quality control, technical, and laboratory activities for the facility.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve quality systems, policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and maintain the site’s Quality Management System.
- Manage daily conformance to quality standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Quality Assurance personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee plant trials involving coatings, process improvements, and other product quality initiatives.
- Manage the facility’s laboratory operations, including testing protocols and quality verification activities.
- Administer the plant’s gage calibration program to ensure compliance and measurement accuracy.
- Investigate, track, and resolve product quality issues while partnering with Purchasing and suppliers to support vendor quality evaluation programs.
- Analyze quality data, identify trends, implement corrective actions, and drive preventive measures to improve product performance.
- Provide technical expertise and product support to Sales, Customer Service, Operations, agents, and customers.
- Conduct customer visits to investigate product claims, resolve quality concerns, and build proactive customer relationships.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Support other facilities and corporate quality initiatives as directed by the Director of Quality.
- Promote and maintain compliance with all company safety policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Quality Assurance experience within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience managing quality personnel.
- Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience with Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and quality inspection techniques.
