Job Description:
A hands-on Senior Manager responsible for all companies purchasing, supply chain, inventory and warehouse operations. Operationally develops and executes the companies procurement strategy by sourcing products, negotiating supplier agreements, managing supplier performance, and ensuring a reliable, cost-effective supply chain. This role also operationally maximizes supplier value, minimizing purchasing costs, supporting inventory objectives, and maintaining strong supplier partnerships.
Procurement
- Purchase stock and non-stock products
- Ensure timely procurement to meet customer demand
- Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, pricing, delivery, and service
- Resolve supply disruptions and shortages
- Place and manage purchase orders and supplier confirmations
- Undertakes and ensures purchasing transactions are accurate and timely
- Forecast inventory requirements in collaboration with all business units
- Manage purchasing requirements in consultation with all business unit leaders, sales and accounting
Strategic Sourcing
- Research new products and suppliers
- Evaluate suppliers based on quality, service, pricing, lead times, and reliability
- Develop sourcing strategies for key product categories
- Diversify supplier base where appropriate to reduce risk
- Conduct supplier evaluations and scorecards
- Buy to minimize total purchasing
Supplier Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships
- Conduct annual supplier business reviews

Contract & Commercial Management
- Negotiate annual purchasing agreements
- Manage supplier contracts
- Review purchasing terms and conditions

- Ensure purchasing activities support company profitability
Logistics & Import Management
- Manage U.S. cross-border purchasing activities
- Oversee customs documentation and compliance in conjunction with our broker
- Manage international/China container purchases in conjunction with Dinettes
- Optimize freight costs while maintaining service levels
- Resolve transportation and customs issues in conjunction with our external partners
Product Management Support
- Expand product and supplier knowledge to support Sales
- Monitor industry trends and competitor offerings
- Identify opportunities to improve product assortment
- Support new product introductions
- Make strategic and opportunistic purchases that support Williams goals and profitability.
Cost Management
- Identify purchasing cost reduction opportunities
- Analyze supplier pricing trends
- Recommend sourcing alternatives
- Support annual budgeting for purchased goods
Process Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within Purchasing and support agreed to Warehouse improvements
- Standardize purchasing procedures
- Improve procurement workflows and supplier communication
- Utilize purchasing analytics to improve decision making
Leadership
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate the Inventory Manager and Warehouse Manager
- Develop procurement best practices
- Foster strong supplier and internal relationships
Cross-Functional Responsibilities
- Work closely with Inventory Management to balance inventory investment with service levels
- Support Sales regarding product availability
- Collaborate with accounting on costing and supplier payment issues
- Provide regular procurement performance reporting

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus
- Minimum ten (10)+ years purchasing experience
- Five (5)+ years in a supervisory or management role
- Retail, e-commerce and/or distribution industry experience background an definitive asset.
- Experience working with a comprehensive and integrated ERP system
- Possesses a professional, positive and solution focused attitude
- Strong cognitive skills (listening, analyzing and interpreting data) and negotiating skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Outlook including an intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
- Requires high level of skill in data analysis
- Previous experience working with Sage 300 software is an asset
- Speak/write/read fluently in English
- Excellent communication, multi-tasking, prioritization and time management skills.
- Expected work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday, with additional time as required to meet workload demands
