Production Supervisor

Pertinent Details:  Direct Hire role (career opportunity) with a stable, reputable, ever growing and evolving company.  Highly automated “manufacturing, production & shipping” facility that is non-union, with facilities across North America.  

Shifts:  Monthly rotation – Days/Midnights [Day Shift: Monday-Friday – 5 a.m – 2 pm /and the/ Midnight Shift: Sunday-Thursday – 6 p.m – 5 a.m]

Location: Plymouth, MI

Compensation: $75-85 USD + hourly incentive (varying) + benefits (medical, vision, dental) + 401 K with generous company match & immediate vesting + annual bonus

Job Description:

Hiring Employer (Steel Facility) is seeking a Production Supervisor for facility located in Plymouth, MI.  Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production and assisting shipping in ensuring that Mill, Shipping, Slitter, and Quality standards are achieved and maintained.

  • Supervise and provide technical expertise as required to the Mill, Shipping, Slitter, and Quality Departments
  • Ensure all employees are trained to perform their respective jobs, including the purpose of the safety features of their specific machine, workstation controls, and tools and equipment
  • Review daily operating reports for compliance and communicate operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues to superiors to prevent operational delays
  • Prepare a variety of reports and other information for senior management
  • Work safely and enforce the workplace safety practices set forth by hiring employer & MIOSHA
  • Review daily operating reports and report operational, manufacturing, maintenance issues and shift events to the plant manager to prevent operational delays
  • Troubleshoot operational and tooling problems to improve quality and efficiency
  • Build and maintain a positive team-oriented environment amongst and between Mill, Shipping,Slitter, and Quality personnel
  • Evaluate employee performance objectively based on the job requirements and behavioural indicators of performance
  • Discipline Mill, Shipping, Quality, and Slitter personnel in coordination with plant management and Human Resources
  • Obtain immediate medical treatment for all injured employees
  • Notify appropriate management and enter required events (accidents, injuries, incidents) intoIncident Management Software.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education, Technical Diploma, or equivalent tube mill, heavy steel manufacturing or shipping experience
  • Proficiency utilizing computers
  • Demonstrated Supervision skills 
  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
  • Successful candidate will be subject to criminal background check and drug testing
