Job Description: 

Seeking an experienced, motivated, and entrepreneurial Sales & Business Development Manager to lead and grow event sales across a multi-purpose banquet and convention facility.

This is a newly created position designed to strengthen and modernize the sales strategy, systems, and business development efforts. The successful candidate will play a key role not only in identifying and closing new business opportunities, but also in evaluating existing sales processes and implementing improved technologies and systems to support long-term growth.

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled sales professional with experience in the hospitality, banquet, convention, or events industry who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable taking initiative, building structure, and driving measurable results.

Duties to include, but not limited to:

Sales & Business Development:

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new event and booking opportunities across multiple market segments, including banquets and social events, corporate meetings and conferences, trade and consumer shows, religious and cultural events, sporting and community events, fundraisers, and galas
  • Develop and execute strategic sales initiatives to increase bookings and revenue
  • Prospect and generate leads through networking, outbound sales efforts, digital platforms, referrals, and industry relationships
  • Conduct client meetings, site tours, presentations, and proposal development.
  • Negotiate contracts and successfully close sales opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities within the events industry

Strategic Systems & Process Development:

  • Assess and evaluate current sales workflows, customer management practices, and booking processes
  • Recommend, source, and implement modern sales and CRM technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer experience
  • Develop systems for lead tracking, forecasting, reporting, pipeline management, and client communications
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to streamline event sales and execution processes.
  • Assist in establishing performance metrics, reporting standards, and sales target

Account Management & Administration:

  • Maintain accurate sales records, contracts, forecasts, and prospect reports
  • Prepare regular sales activity and performance reports for leadership
  • Participate in industry events, networking opportunities, and professional associations to promote the facility and generate new business opportunities
  • Support ongoing client account management and contract renewals

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in sales, business development, or account management within banquet facilities, convention centres, hospitality or event venues, hotels, or conference facilities
  • Proven track record of generating leads, closing sales, and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong understanding of event sales cycles and client relationship management.
  • Experience with CRM platforms, sales technologies, and database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects, prioritize tasks, and drive initiatives forward.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities with experience preparing sales reports and forecasts.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving processes and responsibilities.
  • Experience implementing or managing sales systems and technology solutions is considered a strong asset.
