Job Description:
Working closely with the General Manager and Production Manager, the Human Resources Manager will serve as a trusted partner to employees and leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing onboarding, employee relations, performance management support, policy administration, compliance, training programs and contribute to long term people and culture strategies.
Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to:
- Lead and oversee HR operations, ensuring alignment with company policies and legislative requirements
- Manage the full onboarding and off boarding cycle, ensuring a smooth and positive employee experience
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, resolving issues promptly and professionally
- Collaborate with union representatives and support adherence to collective agreements
- Maintain accurate personnel files and ensure compliance with retention laws and internal policies
- Support and guide leadership in performance management processes
- Develop, enhance, and deliver internal training programs aligned with organizational goals
- Prepare HR reports for government compliance and internal management needs
- Advise leadership on potential HR risks and implement proactive solutions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in Human Resources Management
- Minimum four (4) years of progressive HR experience in a more senior role within a unionized facility
- Demonstrated experience working with collective agreements, grievance handling and union management relations
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices and industry standards
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
