Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Pertinent Information: Full-time, direct hire position. Full details to be provided at time of interview. Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s License as travel will be required occasionally.

Wage: $80,000/year. Comprehensive benefits package included.

Location: Windsor, ON.

Job Description

The QHSE Specialist reports directly to the Facilities Manager and is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving the Company’s Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental management systems. This role ensure compliance with applicable federal and local regulations while promoting a strong safety culture across multiple departments.

Responsibilities to include the following, but not limited to:

Quality Management

  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and company standards
  • Conduct product testing, internal audits, inspections and corrective action follow-up
  • Support product quality assurance for handling, storage and delivery of commodity
  • Investigate quality incidents and customer complaints; implement root-cause and preventative actions

Health & Safety

  • Implementing workplace health and safety programs in compliance with federal safety regulations
  • Conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and job safety analyses
  • Leading incident investigations, near-miss reporting and corrective action tracking
  • Delivering safety training, toolbox talks and onboarding programs
  • Promoting a proactive safety culture across terminals, vessels and transport operations

Environmental Management

  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations related to fuel handling, storage, spill prevention and waste management
  • Supporting compliance with ISO 14001, MARPOL, federal and local environmental requirements
  • Maintaining spill response plans and conduct emergency response drills
  • Monitoring environmental performance metrics and regulatory reporting

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain documentation, procedures, and policies for QHSE systems
  • Supporting external audits, inspections and regulatory engagements
  • Tracking KPIs and preparing monthly and annual QHSE performance reports
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across operations

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of QHSE experience, preferably in oil & gas, fuels, lubricants or industrial logistics
  • Working knowledge of: ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001, marine regulations, spill response and environmental compliance
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
  • ISO Lead Auditor certification preferred
  • CRSP certification
  • Strong knowledge of QHSE federal regulations and marine industry practices
  • Excellent communication and training skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to influence safety culture at all levels of the organization
